ATTENTION: After 35 years of neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy practice, Dr. Eschbach is embarking upon retirement. His Schaumburg office has been sold to an MD (Family Practice Medicine), and, therefore, no "in-person" appointments for testing or psychotherapy are being scheduled. A limited number of appointments are available for "telehealth" (using the HIPAA-compliant DoxyMe telehealth platform), and Dr. Eschbach will be available on a limited basis for consultation and teaching. Patients seeking long-term psychotherapy, in-person neuropsychological assessment, or any biofeedback modality are encouraged to seek services from another appropriate professional.

What is Biofeedback Training?

Notice: As U. S. citizens have begun to recover from the COVID-19 Pandemic --- and as clients/patients exercise appropriate precautions --- BIOFEEDBACK TRAINING HAS BEEN RESUMING ON A LIMITED BASIS TO ESTABLISHED PATIENTS AND NEW PATIENTS PROVIDING DOCUMENTATION OF BEING FULLY VACCINATED (INCLUDING "BOOSTER" VACCINATIONS WHEN APPROPRIATE).

Many medical and psychological problems can be helped by a change in behavior. Here at NNI, we offer Biofeedback Training, which is a non-drug alternative that can teach you voluntary  control over certain mind and body processes. It is a scientifically-driven process that enables an individual to learn how to change physiological activity to improve health and performance. Precise instruments measure physiological activity such as brainwaves, heart function, breathing, muscle activity, and skin temperature. The presentation of this information --- often in conjunction with changes in thinking, emotions, and behavior --- supports desired physiological changes. Over time, these changes can endure without continued use of an instrument.

We offer various types of biofeedback training including: Heart Rate Variability Training, EEG ("brain-wave), EMG, and Temperature Biofeedback. EEG Biofeedback (i.e., Neurofeedback) monitors yours brainwave activity. Using  this data, the doctor can help instruct you on how to train your brain to function in a more efficient pattern. It is often used for patients with ADHD, autism, and emotional disorders. EMG  Biofeedback measures muscle tension and is often used for patients with chronic pain,  headache, and TMJ. Temperature Biofeedback measures your skin temperature and can be helpful in management of many medical disorders, including hypertension (high blood pressure) and vascular (migraine) headaches. Skin Surface Temperature biofeedback and Heart Rate Variability Training can also be helpful in managing stress and anxiety. For example, when you are anxious, your skin temperature decreases. WIth training, you will know when your body is feeling stress and learn skills on how to control your temperature, and ultimately, decrease your anxiety.

Biofeedback is available to train your body to manage the following conditions:
